Funny morning :)

I’ve decided that one of the only things funnier than listening to the things a 3 year old says, is listening to the things that two 3 year olds say to each other when they think no one else is listening.

This morning, Addison’s friend Chase came over to play for a few hours.  They’re together a lot so they play really well together, and honestly are pretty good at entertaining themselves in the playroom, which is a nice break for me!!  Especially since Sophie went down for her first nap right after he came over.  Of course, I spent the majority of Sophie’s nap sitting outside the playroom listening to the hilarious conversations going on between Addison and Chase.  Here are some of my favorites from the morning:

Chase: Addison, come here and play with me.

Addison: (from the bathroom) I can’t Chase…I’m too busy.

Chase: Why are you too busy?

Addison: I’m pooping right now!

Chase: Hi, Sophie!

Addison: Chase, Sophie is MY sister!!

Chase: I knowwwww Addison…but can’t we just share her?

The weather has been pretty crummy the last two days and all of a sudden it got really dark in the house and it started to rain and hail.  Here’s what followed:

Me: Hey guys, look how dark it is outside!!

Chase: Oh no, it’s dark?  I guess I should go to bed.  Denise, do you have a bed for me, or no?

Me: (laughing hysterically because the look on his face was priceless)  We have Addison’s bed upstairs.

Chase: Ok, that sounds good, I’ll just sleep there.

And just for fun…a video of them ‘cooking’ in the kitchen.

LOVE these kids :)

Quote of the Day from Miss A!

This morning we woke up to one of those gorgeous sunny days that makes you LOVE living in Seattle!  Apparently bright sun + blue skies = a serious craving for doughnuts (for me at least) so we all got dressed and walked over to the town center for some coffee and breakfast at Legendary Doughnuts.  This place has some crazy doughnuts like the “Oprah” which is a maple bar topped with bacon, and the Marilyn Monroe, which is topped with butter crème, white chocolate shavings and a candied cherry.  Uh…yum!

Anyways, we all ordered our doughnuts and grabbed a table outside to enjoy the sun.  As we were sitting there watching Addison eat her Steve Urkel (glazed doughnut sprinkled with pink and purple candy Nerds) I said, “Addison, you are so cute!”  She immediately threw her head back while she laughed her classic, Addison laugh.  Then she looked at me and said, “I know mommy, I’m gorgeous!”

Almost 1!!

I think I’m in denial about the fact that Sophie is just a few short weeks away from turning 1!  How the heck did that happen??  Last week (the 29th) was Sophie’s 11 month birthday :)  Erik and I were headed to Las Vegas that afternoon to celebrate our 5 year anniversary but we were able to spend the morning with the girls, and we had time for Sophie’s monthly photo session before heading off to the airport.  As usual, there was more laughing than picture taking … but we managed to get a few good ones :)

I’m not sure I can pick just one favorite, so here are the top 3.

At 11 months, Sophie is busier than ever!  She took her first steps on Addison’s 3rd birthday…just a few days shy of turning 10 months.  She’s getting more and more confident every day but is still more comfortable crawling the majority of the time.  She’s now pointing and is ‘talking’ more and more every day too.  Her current favorite is pointing at Sampson and saying ‘dog’.  Of course she’s got dada, mama, baba, etc. down pat … and she does her best to say Addison too.  No surprise there since she just adores her big sister :)

Now I’m consumed with plans for Sophie’s 1st birthday party.  We decided on a vintage Rainbow Brite theme so I’ve been stalking eBay for great stuff from the early 80s.  I’m kind of amazed at just how much is out there!!  I had lots of fun creating her invites…

and I’m now working on cupcake toppers!  I can truly say that I love being a stay-at-home mom with time for fun projects like this.  It’s a good thing since the invite list includes a mere 85 people (including 20 kiddos)!  Go big or go home, right??
